Wednesday, February 25


Tour #1: BNSF Railway Tour

9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Tour and lunch is complimentary by BNSF

From wheat and whole foods to fertilizer and feed grains, BNSF Railway has been moving products that are vital to America for more than 150 years and currently moves more grain than any other American railroad – enough to supply 900 million people with a year’s supply of bread. In 2006, BNSF transported more than 972,000 carloads of agricultural commodities, nearly half of which were corn and wheat movements. Guests will tour BNSF’s Fort Worth headquarters and learn about the company’s strategies and visions for the future.  Guests will also visit BNSF’s Alliance Intermodal facility, the fourth largest intermodal facility on the BNSF Railway system and one of the most modern in the world.  Lunch provided by BNSF.

 

Tour #2: Dallas City Tour
9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Begin with a self-guided audio tour of the Sixth Floor Museum in the Old Texas School Book Depository from which JFK was assassinated, followed by a walk along the infamous “Grassy Knoll” and a short tour of Dealey Plaza. Then, stroll over to the Historic West End District of Dallas and Victory Park to enjoy lunch on your own at one of Dallas’ favorites.  Visit Pioneer Plaza and the trails that brought settlers to Dallas and cattle to market.  A driving tour of Dallas will highlight the original Nieman Marcus store, Thanksgiving Square, the Cultural Arts District, the Meyerson Symphony Center and the Historic Swiss District with a short stop at the renowned Dallas Farmer’s Market.

Tour #3:Grapevine Historical Tour
10:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.

You will begin with a private guided tour of the Nash Farm and home that were purchased in 1859 and recently restored to their original form to reflect the lives of the early farmers and settlers who established Grapevine. Then, we’ll travel to downtown Grapevine to see the Vintage Railroad, which follows the historic Cotton Belt Route. You can choose to tour the Grapevine Heritage Museum or watch the glass-blowing artisans at Vetro Glass Studio.  Afterwards, shop and dine at one-of-a-kind shops on Main Street before heading to Cross Timbers Winery for a delightful wine-tasting experience.

 

Tour #4: Horticulture Tour
at the Gaylord Texan
10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
Cost $10

The Gaylord Texan Horticulture Tour will be conducted throughout the hotel’s 4.5 acres under the Riverwalk, Hill Country and Lonestar glass atriums.  The Gaylord Texan features over 70 varieties of plants in the atriums.  Your guide will explain the plant varieties and the steps the hotel’s Horticulture Team takes to maintain these gorgeous atriums.  Learn about quantity maintenance, storage and rotation of in-house vegetation.  Guests should meet the guide at the concierge desk near the front of the Gaylord Texan hotel.  Comfortable shoes are recommended for this walking tour.

 

Tour #5: TourShopping Shuttle to
Southlake Town Square
10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Southlake Town Square is a 130-acre urban outdoor shopping destination with more than 100 shops, restaurants and entertainment.  Some stores located in Southlake Town Square include Apple Computer Store, Banana Republic, Coach, Coldwater Creek and Pottery Barn.  A few of the upscale casual dining restaurants include Brio Tuscan Grille, Rockfish Seafood Grill and The Cheesecake Factory.  You will receive a Southlake Town Square shopping map to guide you through your shopping experience.  Note: The motor coach will shuttle guests from Southlake Town Square back to the Gaylord Texan at 11:00 a.m., Noon, 1:00 p.m. and 1:45 p.m.

Tour #6: Fort Worth Arts Tour
Noon - 4:30 p.m.

Start your afternoon with lunch at the famed Joe T. Garcia’s Mexican Cuisine, a 64-year-old Fort Worth institution.  We’ll take a docent-led tour of the Kimball Art Museum, which features holdings from antiquity to the present, including masterpieces by Caravaggio, Monet, Picasso, Rembrandt and many more.  Finally, we’ll take a guided tour of the Sid Richardson Museum, “Where the West Rides Again,” home to one of the finest and most focused collections of Western art in America from the collection of legendary Texan, Sid W. Richardson (1891-1959).

Tour #8: Fort Worth Historic Stockyards  
12:30 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Cost $26
(Lunch on your own prior to tour)

On the way to Fort Worth, our guide will describe the exciting history of the Wild West.  First, we will visit The Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame, which pays tribute to the cowboys of Texas. Next, we will visit the Ponder Boot Company to observe an authentic boot-making demonstration. You will have time to explore the Stockyards and discover its wide array of stores or try your hand at the Cowtown Cattlepen Maze. Finally, you will experience a true Cattle Drive (weather permitting), the only true cattle drive left in the United States!

Tour #9: Texas Motor Speedway Tour & Pace Car Experience
12:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Cost $75
(Lunch on your own prior to tour)

Ladies and Gentlemen…..Start…Your….Engines! We’re going to the famous Texas Motor Speedway where we’ll take a tour of Pit Road, the Concourse, Victory Lane and make a stop on the luxury-suite level for a bird’s eye view of the track. Afterwards, take a ride in an official Pace Car!  Three guests at a time will ride with a TMS Certified Driver for two laps around the 24-degree banking oval, reaching speeds of 85 to 90 miles per hour. There is no age restriction for this experience.
